Sport in Kirby Muxloe

The village has excellent sports facilities mostly based at Kirby Muxloe Sports and Village Club located on Ratby Lane, Kirby Muxloe. The facilities are utilised by the Kirby Muxloe Cricket Club and Kirby Muxloe FC and include a floodlit 5 a side pitch, an all weather training area, two floodlit full size pitches, junior and mini pitches, changing rooms and parking facilities. They are managed by the Kirby Muxloe Sports Club or by individual clubs and activities.

The Parish Council, as the sole Trustees of the Recreation Ground Charity No 521441 manage an area of Trust recreation ground as well as an area of Council owned land off Station Road. Sports offered include football and cricket as well as a popular childrens play area and Multi Use Games Area which has basketball and a skate park area.

The Parish Council also manage and maintain two tennis courts located off Courts Close in Kirby Muxloe. There is also the Kirby Muxloe Bowling Club and the local Kirby Muxloe Golf Club.


The Parish Council own and maintain two tennis courts for use by Kirby Muxloe residents. Located on Court Close, Kirby Muxloe, the courts have been recently resurfaced following a successful bid for grant funding from Blaby District Council and a share of Section 106 monies.

At present they are free of charge to use and are open to be used at any time by residents of Kirby Muxloe. At this time prior bookings are not required but this may change as discussions continue with respect to the management thereof. Further details will be published when they become available.

Players are asked to treat the courts and equipment with respect and to observe the conditions of use.

Draft proposals are being discussed at this time with respect to organisations booking the courts. At present only non-profit organisations based in Kirby Muxloe can contact the Clerk to the Council at kirbymuxloepc@btconnect.com and request a permit form for a block booking which is required to be completed and returned to the Council at least two weeks before the scheduled event.

The Council are also discussing draft proposals with respect to offering the courts for tennis coaching and further details will be published when they become available.

Kirby Muxloe Bowls Club is located close to the Village Library and the Village Hall. They have a clubhouse with full facilities, a bar and locker rooms. The green is considered one of the best in Leicestershire. If you are looking for Friendship, Fresh Air, Exercise and Competition, then bowls is the game.

Football and Cricket

Local team Kirby Muxloe FC 88 play during the football season and train off-season on the football pitches currently available and the Shree Prajapati Association play on the cricket square during the cricket season.

The Council are currently proposing to refurbish the existing football and cricket pavilions to provide community facilities of changing rooms, communal areas etc.

There is an excellent and varied menu for you to select from and they are happy to cater for any special dietary needs.
